Images of Arches National Park

Arches National Park contains some of the most dramatic rock formations in the world. What was once a shallow sea, over millions of years became a massive desert. Salt domes formed beneath the delicate sandstone creating parallel fractures. Frost wheathering and water began to fracture and dissolve minerals in the soft sandstone. Erosion began to carve the most dramatic monumental forms out of the Colorado Plateau. The Green and Colorado Rivers continue to cut their way through the canyon floor.

Highway 191 provides access to both Canyonlands and Arches. Moab is a great place to stay, with good hotels and great restaurants. There are many tour companies here and they offer a variety of sight seeing options. Moab is a lively town that caters to all of the visiting tourists and they do a great job!
