What began as a shallow sea became a rolling plain. 20 million years ago pressures deep within the Earth pushed the Colorado Plateau up by 10,000 feet. Water began to erode the soft sandstone creating the landscape we see today. The Green and Colorado Rivers continue this process and are still at work today!
