The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is held each year in August as part of the Edinburgh Festival. The Tattoo has been performed every year since 1950 on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.
The Tattoo is held rain or shine and not a single performance of the Tattoo has ever been cancelled! The Edinburgh Tattoo has an annual audience of over 200,000 people and is run for charitable purposes.
The Tattoo is host to military bands from around the world, with musical and theatrical performances, marching bands, military drill teams, The Pipe and Drums of Black Watch & Highlanders Pipe and Drum Music, Scottish Highland dancers and performances by international dance troops which vary each year.
We traveled with CIE Tours International and visited Edinburgh in both 2014 and 2016. Traveling in August, tickets for the Tattoo are included, so don't forget CIE if
you are planning a trip to Scotland. The show was great and the seats were perfect. The images displayed here were from the 2016 show.
