Bryce Canyon was formed by headward erosion of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce, part of the Claron Formation, is the highest remaining formation of the Grand Staircase. Formed during the Eocene Epoch, Bryce is geologically the youngest member of the Escalante Grand Staircase at 33 to 56 million years old.
Though small in scale, Bryce is a jewelbox of color and form. The stunning landscape of "hoodoos" presents a staggering vision unlikely to be matched in any of the other of the National Parks.
